CASE STUDY : Former Hitachi Tools, Milton Keynes

Project Overview

December 2024 Allclear Demolition began the task of demolishing three large warehouse structure previously used as a tool warehouse, workshops and offices followed by the breakout and grubbing up of existing ground bearing slabs and foundations, finally processing materials utilising tracked jaw crusher producing 6F2 aggregate to be used within the site as a pile mat installation for the client.

Key Project Steps

Pre-Planning

 • Asbestos Surveys: Conducted and where required, removed asbestos prior to internal strip out tasking.

 • Vegetation strip and tree removal tasks were required as part of the preparation phase of works, utilising on site excavators working alongside sub-contracted tree surgeon company.

• Sequencing: Allclear Demolition established a methodical sequence of demolition to ensure removal of relevant types of material coordinated with waste skip removal.  

Internal Soft Stripping:

 • Following licensed asbestos removal teams, internal soft strip out of anything not structurally integral to the buildings were removed, including fixtures and fittings, floor coverings, suspended ceilings, partition walls.

Structural Demolition:

• Pre-planning and sequencing were vital prior to structural demolition throughout these works

• Equipment Utilization: 30-tonne and 20-tonne excavators with a variety of attachments for were utilised for efficient demolition

Material Processing:

 •      Crushing Operations: Began in early March 2024, utilising Allclear Demolition’s fleet mobile jaw crusher to produce high-quality 6F2 aggregate.

•      Re-use: Utilized 6F2 material to create a multi-level pile mat, confirmed by satisfactory earthworks fill reports and pile mat tests.

Waste Material Removal:

• Methodical loading and removal from site arisings were planned with precision due to site constraints having to utilise limited waste skip availability.

Achievements:

• Ahead of Schedule: Completed the project two weeks earlier than scheduled.

• Leadership: Demonstrated outstanding planning, coordination, and communication throughout the project.
