Tasks consisted of specific areas of internal strip out, internal mezzanine removal, part structural demolition, along with the removal of roof sheets and associated roof gutters, soffits, and rainwater downpipes.

Key Project Steps

  • Pre-Planning:

Live Retail Park: Due to this tasking been within a live retail park, protection to the public throughout the works was imperative. Adequate segregation along with movement of materials from site was methodically planned and executed. Creation of dust and vibration was closely monitored by Allclear Demolition Supervisor throughout.

Sequencing: Allclear Demolition established a methodical sequence of works in preparation for part structural demolition task.

  • Internal Soft Stripping & Mezzanine Removal:

Initial internal soft strip of floor coverings followed by the removal of stud work / blockwork partitions throughout, followed by the removal of the internal mezzanine structure and all high-level M&E.

Manual separation of the mezzanine structure from the existing unit superstructure was initially required followed by the excavator operative methodically dismantling the mezzanine, removing decking beams, main support beams and vertical support columns.

  • Entrance Pods Demolition:

Steelwork entrance lobbies and canopies, facing brick and glazed shopfronts were manually demolished back to existing structural frame.

  • Part Structural Demolition:

Removal of existing southwest elevation consisting of brick faced cavity wall construction was completed, exposing the steel framework beneath.

Roof elevation corrugated steel profile sheets were removed in preparation for structural steelwork demolition / dismantling task.

Working from MEWP scissor lift, hot works operatives created a definitive line of separation between the structure to be retained and the structure to be demolished.

H Frame steel work was methodically removed utilising demolition specific excavator with shear attachment.

  • Concrete Pad Removal:

Utilising excavator with hydraulic breaker attachment, existing concrete hardstanding were broken out and removed from site.
